Brady Arts Quartet
When violinist
Winona Fifield moved to Tulsa, she brought with her a passion for
chamber music. When the other members of the quartet were approached
about playing, their only reservation was having enough time to
rehearse thoroughly. Winona is an Administrative Assistant with Tulsa
Symphony Orchestra; cellist, Lou Lynch, owns Tulsa Violin Shop;
violist, Phil Wachowski, works in the shop; and violinist, Gina Davis,
is busiest of all with her family including two school age children. In
January of 2009, it was decided that they would give up their lunch
break a couple of times a week to rehearse among the tools and
instruments being repaired at Lou’s shop. The shop is located in
Tulsa’s historic Brady Arts District, home of the Brady Theatre and
Cain’s Ballroom, both well known venues for some of the world’s finest
performers. Tulsa is rejuvenating the Brady Arts District with new
artists, venues and galleries. It seems fitting to name this new
quartet after its birthplace.
The Brady Arts
Quartet members have a combined total of 135 years of professional
playing experience in 14 different countries. Some of them have
accumulated years by starting at a young age and some of them by having
lived longer. They have performed in 26 different orchestras including
Rotterdam, Salzburg, and Rome. In the United States they have performed
with orchestras in New Jersey, Albany, Flint, Milwaukee and Salt Lake
City. A little farther south, they have performed with orchestras in
Charlotte, Kansas City and Houston. In the summers their performances
have included Festivals from New York and Vermont to Jackson Hole in
Wyoming.
The Brady Arts
Quartet members come from diverse backgrounds from South Carolina and
Louisiana to New York State and New York City. Their education
encompasses many fine musical institutions including Eastman School of
Music, Cincinnati Conservatory, North Carolina School of Arts and the
Juilliard School. Although they have taken many paths to reach this
point in time, they all share a love of music and a particular passion
for chamber music.
The Brady Arts
Quartet members are a major force in Tulsa’s musical life, performing
with Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Tulsa Opera Orchestra, Signature
Symphony and Light Opera Oklahoma. You will find Brady Arts Quartet
members performing in Tulsa area churches on a regular basis. Just as
the Brady Arts District is revitalizing Tulsa’s arts community, so is
the Brady Arts Quartet breathing new life into the string quartet
repertoire.
